This is WHY

How can you not think that MV offers a quieter, simpler way?! After all, that's what we're talking about here!

Quiet Activity

It seems to me that people who make big moves are better served by doing it quickly. When you "plan" for it, as we are, it seems to drag out a bit. Or a lot. There is a whole lot to do, but none of it can really be done until the big things are sealed. Our current debate is whether we have to have jobs before we make a move. That might be smart. But, does it take longer or shorter to find a job than it does to buy and sell a house?? Or sell and buy?

So, we continue to plug away at house-hunting. Of course, job-hunting hasn't started yet. Hopefully, that will occur in March. And, hopefully, that dream job will be awaiting at least one of us in the Heartland.

The Homes of IA

We took our first "shopping" trip to IA this weekend. $200K goes a lot longer there than it does in Chicago! Whew! We looked at a somewhat upscale area in Cedar Rapids and then we looked at rural Mount Vernon - farm land. Am now enamored with the idea of having space, albeit not necessarily inside my house. Must read up on septic systems. I think they have to do to with water??! ( =

After the trip, I have crossed the hump of being ready to say this is what we are really doing. I had a little bit of unsure-ness last week. I still don't really know what we're getting into, but I think it will be a good move. Something different. Check back with me in a year on this!

So, no actual house decision was made, but we found some clarity. I'm hawking the web for properties in MV built arounf the turn of the century. Call me if you have any leads!
